Homeopathy - is there anything to it?

Early lastyear leading pharmacies admitted that they didn't believe homeopathy works. However, despite this discovery and continual studies which prove that homeopathy gives the same results achieved in placebo tests, the NHS still spent more than £4 million in the last 12 monthscreating homeopathic medicines.
Shocked by the National Health Services and Boot's 'no harm' perception to homeopathy, over three hundred activists are now planning to partake in a huge homeopathic binge to help increase awarenessabout the fact that homepathy is ineffectual.
During this demonstrationwhich is set to occur on the 30th January 2010, all those actively involved in the protest will publicly swallow an entire container of homeopathic pills to show that they are nothing more than sugar pills and encourage pharmacies to take them off their shelves
Where was Homeopathy discovered?
Described by many as 'herbal medicine' the majority of the substances found within this commonly accepted complementary medicine are so weakthat there is nothing medicinal about them.
However further research into the birth of homeopathy has revealed that there is nothing medicinal about it, but that it is solely structuredon 3 ideas produced in the 1800's by Samuel Hahnemann. 3 tenets which are still utilised in the development of homeopathic pills today:
- The Law of Similars the theory where the cause of your symptoms can also cause them i.e. taking caffeine to remedy sleep deprevation
- The Law of Infinitesimals where the more weak the remedy, the stronger it will become
- The Law of Succession where vigorous shaking of a homeopathic potion would further increase its strength
Assessing this historical background, it is easily understandable why sceptics of homeopathy are asking the government to instruct the NIHCE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) to evaluate whether it is right for the NHS to pay for homeopathy. Providing restricted if any results, all scientific studies point to the fact that they will not help your immune system.
