In a world where people are getting diamonds studded into their teeth to look glamorous, a not-so-perfect body is far from acceptable. Weight loss pills, powders and patches are available by truckloads in the market and are touted as the best quick fix for weight loss. Weight lost by crash diets almost always latches back on soon enough. Healthy weight loss by drastic dietary changes like cutting down certain food groups altogether is almost unheard of and definitely not recommended.  

A better idea, say as part of the new year resolution, is to inculcate new and healthy eating habits which can be followed lifelong. They not only help lose weight but make the body healthier and give better stamina. They are simple tricks of replacing just a few of your present foods with smarter alternatives. They make you feel fuller faster and are high on nutrient content. Drown your guts

Consume at least 3-4 litres of water daily and see the change in your skin, bowel function and energy levels in general. Calorie-free, cheap and extremely vital to every cellular function, having enough of it will make your body sing praises of your new diet plan. Not only does it help maintain the weight loss but it flushes out the toxins everyday and keeps body metabolic mechanisms functioning smoothly.

 

Diversify

Make sure you include all food groups without overindulging in any one. Fats and carbohydrates are as essential a part of a balanced diet as are proteins or vitamins. So do not skip out on them but limit them to a 15% of your total dietary intake.  Include lots of nuts, fruits, dairy products, cereals, vegetables, and pulses in your meals in varying proportions.  

Most importantly, be positive towards food and see those pounds disappear with a renewed sense of vigour and better health in the coming year!
